Stoney Cove

The main focal point of the club for diving is at Stoney Cove. Stoney is just the other side of Leicester at a place called Stoney Stanton, around 45 miles from Newark.
We dive there at weekends or on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday nights of the month when there is a night diving session. Stoney is ideal for training. It is an old stone quarry that has been flooded and has several different levels, which are ideal for the various diving grades. Novices can start off at 6 metres and the more experienced can go to a depth of 35 metres.
It also contains several objects that divers can explore such as airplane cockpits, a helicopter, several vehicles and a boat.
Stoney can be dived at any time of the year. The more committed (we nearly were) of us have been there the day after Boxing Day - when our kit froze to the car park surface. It's not always that bad though - honest!
